  1. WELCOME TO THE EDGEWIZARD DEMO

  3. This Demo version of EdgeWizard is not compatible with with Photoshop 5. 
  4. Contact Chroma Graphics for a new demo version that will be available 
  5. by May 1998.

  7. DEMO MODE
  8. In demo mode, EdgeWizard is fully functional only with the tutorial
  9. images provided and referenced in the tutorial PDF document. You can
  10. use this demo with any other image but you will be unable to bring
  11. the new transition mask back into Photoshop.

  34. WHAT IS EDGEWIZARD?
  35.  
  36. EdgeWizard delivers powerful edge blending tools for graphics
  37. professionals. Advancing beyond conventional feathering techniques, 
  38. EdgeWizard quickly blends edges in a variety of ways for improved 
  39. compositing without any "halo" or banding effects.
  40.  
  41. Key Features:
  42.  
  43. Edge Direction - Direct your edge in an inner, outer or center
  44. direction to prevent any halos. Standard feathering in Photoshop
  45. only provides a centered gaussian edge.
  46.  
  47. Four edge effects - Use the Quick, Gaussian,Variable or Edge Brush
  48. tools to create the best edge for an image.
  49.  
  50. Global or local effect - Apply edge effects either globally to the
  51. entire mask or locally with a brush.
  52.  
  53. Dithering - Use the dither option to break up any banding typical
  54. of gaussian blends. Noise is applied to the edge effect only.

  57. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  58.  
  59. To use EdgeWizard you need the following equipment and software:
  60.  
  61. Windows
  62. * A computer running Microsoft Windows 95 or Windows NT
  63. * Adobe Photoshop 3.0.5 or later, or other applications that support
  64.   Adobe's Photoshop plug-in standard version 3.0 or later
  65. * 7.5 MB of available hard disk space
  66.  
  67. INSTALLATION
  68.  
  69. To install EdgeWizard Demo for Windows:
  70. 1. Insert the EdgeWizard disc into your CD-ROM drive.
  71. 2. Choose Run from the Windows 95 Start menu.
  72. 3. Type d:\setup.exe, where d represents your CD-ROM drive. Click OK.
  73. 4. Follow the instructions that appear on your screen.
  74. 5. Alternately, simply double-click setup.exe on your CD-ROM directory.
  75.  
  76. The installer will default to installing EdgeWizard in the Plugins
  77. directory of the most recent version of Photoshop on your computer. If
  78. you wish to install EdgeWizard in another location, when the Installer
  79. prompts you to confirm the install location, click the Browse button and
  80. navigate to the desired directory.

  82. The installer will install:
  83. 1. A folder called ChromaGraphics in your Programs directory containing
  84.    shortcuts to EdgeWizard, help files and this ReadMe document.
  85. 2. A folder called ChromaGraphics in your Photoshop Plugins directory
  86.    containing the help system, this ReadMe and images to be used with
  87.    the tutorial (provided as a PDF document).
  88. 3. The EdgeWizard plug-in in the Photoshop Plugins directory.

  91. EDGEWIZARD PERFORMANCE & COMPATIBILITY
  92.  
  93. Performance:
  94. EdgeWizard makes extensive use of complex algorithms that require your
  95. computer to perform a great number of math calculations. In general,
  96. besides the speed of your CPU (obviously faster is better!), performance
  97. is largely a function of the amount of memory (RAM) available to
  98. Photoshop. For Photoshop to run at its best, your machine should have
  99. approximately 2.5 times as much RAM available as the size of the image
  100. you are editing. If less RAM is available then Photoshop will start to
  101. use hard disk as a substitute for RAM and performance will degrade.

  103. As EdgeWizard requires approximately a full copy of the image you are
  104. editing in Photoshop, its performance is also heavily dependent on the
  105. amount of RAM available. You can increase the amount of RAM available by
  106. closing other applications. You can also reduce the amount of memory
  107. required by EdgeWizard by closing any image not currently being used.

  110. EdgeWizard with Corel PhotoPaint:
  111. EdgeWizard is fully compatible with Corel PhotoPaint 7.0 and above. Take
  112. note of the manual key sequence required to return the mask to
  113. PhotoPaint.
  114.  
  115. If you want to edge a selection created in PhotoPaint you have to do the
  116. following. Make the selection, invoke EdgeWizard (the cursor will flash
  117. briefly), then hit Ctrl A followed by Ctrl F. This will bring up
  118. EdgeWizard and display the entire image and the Photopaint selection.
  119. Once you have created your edge, hit OK, then hit Ctrl K followed by
  120. Ctrl F followed by Ctrl K to return your edged selection to Photopaint.
  121. If you want to cancel EdgeWizard and return to Photopaint with your
  122. original selection intact, hit Cancel in EdgeWizard, then hit Ctrl K
  123. followed by Ctrl F followed by Ctrl K to get your selection back.

  126. EdgeWizard with other parent applications:
  127. EdgeWizard is designed to be compatible with a wide range of
  128. applications that support the Photoshop plug-in standard.  Some of these
  129. applications do not fully implement the latest Photoshop plug-in
  130. standard. If you experience any difficulty in using EdgeWizard with
  131. applications other than Photoshop, then please let us know.
